My last race was a whole different deal yet this one will also have a pretty special dimension to it: Nike is attempting to have one million runners all over the world run a 10K on August 31st, 2008. They are calling this the Human Race 10K.
Vancouver is one of the 25 ‘official’ cities around the World and as this race is also associated with raising awareness and funds for one of three organizations, I chose to support the United Nations Refugee Agency and their NineMillion campaign. The UNHCR in collaboration with Nike and Microsoft is aiming ‘to give more than nine million children better access to education, sport and technology by 2010.’
Anyone can register to run and be included even if you’re not in one of the 25 ‘official’ cities, although you might not have the same concerts and 11th kilometer at the finish (the 11th km is what they are calling the beer garden in the concert area at the finish!).
Get out there and race with the World!
