Patience – snow is on its way

Woke up with this view yesterday…and you know what that means: the season is on its way! We are behind the snow precipitations from last year but there are some encouraging signs as Whistler got pounded with 80cm over the weekend.

They are expecting some more heavy snowfall tonight and hopefully the freezing level will not rise too much in the next few days. They are talking about some 1800m to 1900m levels which we would be happy to avoid. A friend of mine is going on Whistler today to get some early season cat runs, so I’ll have some first hand info shortly.

Unfortunately the temperatures are a little warm and the situation is similar for Mt Baker, with freezing levels at 7000 ft (yikes!).

Although it was very exciting to see the dusting on the locals, patience is still the key word. At least another week before we get deep into it…like the mountain crews on Whistler on Sunday pictured here.
