Praised as Canada’s second National Anthem, the theme song of Hockey Night in Canada might not be returning to the CBC next year. As many other Canadians, I grew up on that theme song and it brings back many very special memories that are part of my Canadian heritage. It has been the signal for families to gather around the broadcast for several generations and hearing it always makes me want to be heading out on the ice.
After an incredible Stanley Cup final with great hockey, it is really too bad that this has been the talk of the town for all hockey fans. The CBC could not have had picked a worse timing to get this news out. There’s been a very strong reaction from Canadians everywhere and I sure hope that this will have an impact on CBC’s decision, specially since they are a crown corporation and should therefore be representing our best interests.
